Position: Programme Officer - Livelihoods (based in Bajhang)
UMN has received grant from UKAID to implement a project aimed at increasing income through on/off farm practices and vocational skill development in two districts of Nepal i.e. Bajhang and Morang. UMN is now seeking a Livelihoods Officer to play a key role in implementing the project in Bajhang District. This position is a part of a multidisciplinary team in UMN's Bajhang field office and the main purpose of the job is to provide technical support to partner organisations in delivering the project objectives.
This project is being implemented by UMN's Livelihoods team which focuses on long lasting improvements in the livelihoods of people in remote rural communities, contributing to a transformation process for some of the poorest people in the country.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in agriculture with at least two years of relevant working experience;
- Sound knowledge of food security issues in Nepal, particularly in the Mid* and Far-Western region;
- Working experience in sub-sector analysis, value chain analysis, market mapping and rural entrepreneurship development;
- Experience in promotion of income generating activities i.e. fresh vegetable production, fisheries, dairy and other off-farm employment;
- Knowledge of climate change adaptation, livelihood-centered disaster risk reduction and appropriate agriculture technology will be an added advantage;
- Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English;
- Good command of Microsoft Excel, Word. Power Point and database management.
