Vacancy in Gurkha Welfare Scheme (GWS)

The Gurkha Welfare Scheme (GWS), British Gurkhas Pokhara invites applications from suitably qualified applicants for the post of nine Mobile Medical Practitioners and ten Health Assistants to work in its various Area Welfare Centers (AWCs).
1. Mobile Medical Practitioners:
  • Minimum Qualification:
    • Must be MBBS qualified.
    • Must be registered with the Nepal Medical Council.
    • Must have good commands of both spoken and written English.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Must be physically and mentally fit.
    • Must be a Nepali Citizen.
  • Desirable Background and Experience:
    • Minimum of two years experience with GoN/Private Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Health Centre.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • The successful applicant will be responsible to run OPD Clinic at Area Welfare Centers (AWCs) as well as running a mobile clinic within its Area of Operation (AO) to the ex-servicemen community.
    • S/he will be required to do a lot of fieldwork that will include trekking in harsh terrains over extended periods.
    • S/he will also be required to live in uncomfortable circumstances whilst out in field duties.
    • S/he has professional oversight of the running of the GWS Medical Scheme and is responsible for the provision of professional medical advice to the Field Director GWS for specific cases.
  • Remuneration: Monthly salary will be NCR 129,470 /- per month (FY 2015/16 pay scale)with Provident Fund, One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWS Staff Regulations. The job is offered for two years initially and may be extended.
2. Health Assistants:
  • Minimum Qualification:
    • Must have qualified as Health Assistants.
    • Must be Registered with the Nepal Health Professional Council.
    • Must have good commands of both spoken and written English.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Must be physically and mentally fit.
    • Must be a Nepali Citizen.
  • Desirable Background and Experience: Minimum Two years experience with GoN/Private Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Health Centre.
  • Job Responsiblity:
    • The sucessful applicant will be responsible to visit the old and infirm Welfare Pensioners and their dependants in remote areas with primary medicine.This will include a lot of trekking up in the hilly VDCs.
    • Majority of the work will be field visits in the local area as directed by the respective Area Welfare Officer (AWO).As such the individual must be fit to perform the tasks.
    • S/he will also be required to maintain a medicine log sheet update in respective Area Welfare Centers (AWCs).
  • Remuneration: Monthly salary will be NCR 50,126 /- per month (FY 2015/16 pay scale)with Provident Fund, One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWS Staff Regulations. The job is offered for two years initially and may be extended.
